This was my first attempt to take a used propane tank and make a bell out of it. Basicly it came out pretty well except that the tone is flat due to the fact that I took so much integrity away when the designs were plasma cut into the sides.
And a clock I built out of 10 gauge flat plate a long time ago..... it even keeps time..... it is about 41" long by 12" wide at the center....
This was one of my pretty spud guns that I built for a boss of mine (thank goodnes he is now an ex-boss)... he had always wanted a spud gun and I had not built one for awhile.... this one featured duel ignitors and a extra long combustion chamber... plus my trademark paint work.... sure spit the spuds out too.....
While this may not exactly classify as "artwork", it was a pain-in-the-ass to do. I found this great fabric in Tucson but wanted a panel 80" long by 7 1/2" high. So I joined 2 pieces of foam board together and then cut and glued the fabric to the foamboard with a barely discernable splice in the center.Came out pretty well tho....
This is a recently completed "garden cactus". I suppose it was inspired by my love of cacti in general and the fact that I had a huge supply of left over pieces of steel plate left over from the multiple Kokopelli's I have made this summer.... so what could be better then to weld them all together and plant it in front of the house.... and the cool thing is it is really low maintenance....never have to trim it! It measures about 40" across at the top and is about 4' high.
This is a new stainless steel locking mailbox that I bought a couple of years ago after my mail was stolen one time. True to my form, I could not just put up this big old silver mailbox. So I started by building a new 4" X 4" square tube steel post that was finished in black metal flake with numbers that glow in the dark. The box itself was also finished in black metal flake and my first attempt at some flames. Came out pretty well actually. At least the postman likes it.
This is just a simple watering can that I gave my daughter for her 21st birthday. It was a
plain dull stainless steel when I bought it and I just could not leave it alone....
This is a weird table lamp that I made for my daughter. I finally got it done for her 21st birthday after putting it off for a couple of years. It is constructed primarily fron 1/2" rebar, 5/8" copper tubing, clear resin (the base), and the shade is a small propane tank. The 3 LED's light up along with the light. Stands about 3' tall with the base being about 14" in diameter.
This is a "bell" that I did for my sister and her husband. It is made from an old SCUBA tank that measures 2' X 7". The Chinese letters mean Love and Outstanding. The wind catcher means Prosperity.
This is another watering can that I did and sent to my sister in D.C. Considering all the plants she has, I am sure it will get well used.
And another watering can for a person who passed through my life....
This watering can was for a good friend of my daughter's.
And a link to the slide show of the poured resin (surfboard resin) panels I did to "decorate"
the
inside horizontal runners on my sister's three new gates at her DC home. They are all 5" wide and 2 are 32" long, 2 are 28" long, and 2 are 23" long. They are all about 3/4" thick. The framework you see around them in the first pictures is the "mold" I built to make them.
And one more page from a twisted mind. Site
